Heat Strengthened Glass (HS for short) is a type of heat-treated glass (not a type of safety glass) which is subjected to a heating and cooling circle. It is generally twice as strong as ordinary annealed glass of the same thickness and configuration.
Heat Strengthened Glass has greater resistance to thermal loads than ordinary annealed glass and, when broken, the fragments are typically much larger than those of fully tempered glass.
Same as fully tempered glass, heat strengthened glass can not be cut or drilled after heat-strengthening and any alterations, such as edge grinding, acid etching or sand blasing.
Heat strengthened glass is intended for general glazing and applications that do not specifically require a safety glass product.
